FFXIV: The Collectibles Guide – Crafting Edition

Crafting Edition

We’ve spoken in-depth about Collectibles, and now it’s time to talk about the crafting edition. It’s a lot more straightforward and easier to reach the rarity threshold for crafting edition than it is for gathering since you’re not relying on the RNG procs of certain abilities. In saying that, it is also a little tougher because of the materials that you are going to need in order to craft the items.

In this game guide, to help you from going broke while getting the materials, I wholly suggest you level up gathering classes in conjunction and gather the items you need yourself. On my server, the items go for incredible prices and it’s worth more to just take time out and gather instead of spending 100k Gil or more.

Be sure to have completed the Inscrutable Tastes quest – if not then you cannot craft collectibles! Next, activate the ability of Collectible Synthesis. To check what items are available for the day that can be turned in as collectibles, you can either go to Timers to Rowena’s House of Splendors or head to Mor Dhona and talk to the appraiser.

When you select the item you want to craft to turn in. You’ll notice that the crafting edition screen looks pretty much the same as a normal craft. The only difference is that there is no HQ chance, there is only a dash. So we can ignore that. What you want to keep an eye on is the quality number. Make sure you remember what the minimum number is to safely turn in. That is the goal, meet the minimum. Especially while leveling up.

Now the rotation that I use. Also, it’s good to remember how many steps it takes to progress a synth, that way you won’t be caught short.

ROTATION| Crafting Edition
Hit all tricks of the trade that procs
– Comfort Zone
– Inner Quiet
– Steady Hand II
– Hasty Touch(for an 80 durability craft you want to go until there is 20 durability left. For a 70 durability craft, you want to go until there is 10 durability left)
– Master’s Mend II
– Great Strides
– Depending on how much CP you have as well as stats and Tricks of the Trade procs, you can potentially do another round of Comfort Zone, Steady Hand II, Hasty Touch. Just remember you need enough CP for the finishing quality moves as well as enough durability to ensure you don’t fail. If not, this single round can usually net at least the minimum.
– Ingenuity II
– Innovation
– Byregot’s Blessing
– Careful Synthesis II until complete

With NQ materials and good luck, you can reach over 2600 in collectible rarity. With HQ materials, it’ll end up being more. This rotation does rely on RNG so it can potentially fail. I’ve always been able to meet the minimum rarity number. My CRP at the time, for example, had 388 Craftsmanship, 366 Control, and 349 CP. Not the best stats but enough that hitting the minimum number is no issue. If you are having problems, you can either upgrade your gear, activate free company buffs, or eat food.

I recommend upgrading gear if it’s going to outstrip the current gear you have. At around level 55 you should be upgrading anyway since the gear is far better than the former best in the slot of A Realm Reborn.
My left side gear at level 55 is(note that they’re all high quality):

  • Ramie Turban of Crafting
  • Ramie Doublet of Crafting
  • Dhalmelskin Halfgloves of Crafting
  • Rainbow Apron
  • Ramie Skirt
  • Dhalmelskin Shoes

I have melded material to this gear, each piece on the left side has 1x Craftsman’s Competence Materia III and 1x Craftsman’s Cunning Materia III

My right-side gear remains the same as ARR. I won’t be upgrading until I hit 60 as it doesn’t seem to be worth it too much.

I also use this rotation for blue scrip items though I will sometimes use a Precise Touch on a Good condition rather than hitting tricks of the trade. Precise Touch will give you 2 stacks on your inner quiet stack which can be helpful, especially when a hasty touch fails. Generally, I’ll hit two tricks of the trade procs and then precise touch on the third. That will often leave me with enough CP overall to complete the rotation.

To get blue scrips, I’ve been using Culinarian due to the fact that some of the crafts have fewer materials needed to create the item. It does mean having to wait for unspoiled nodes, especially as I gather all my own materials but it’s well worth it in the end. I do recommend Culinarian for acquiring the blue scrips but any other class is able to get scrips so long as it’s at least level 56.

As always, have fun and good luck collecting these scrips. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.

This rotation and gear is known throughout most of the crafting community. Mithrie isn’t the only crafter out there and you’ll find that the knowledge was circulated way before he created his videos.

I am glad people know about Mithrie. His videos are really helpful.
