Sledgehammer Games revealed the first image of their upcoming Call of Duty title at their GDC 2014 panel, and it looks quite pretty. The image shows one of the character models rendered in-game, and boasts next-gen visuals that the Call of Duty franchise has not yet seen. Sledgehammer Games has been brought on-board to add an additional year to the development cycle of Call of Duty, and they promise that 2014’s release will be focused on next-gen.
I have my reservations about how accurate this image will turn out to be. When you consider Activision’s love for outdated engines, and their need to force the same game out every year with little to no enhancements, it makes taking what they release with a grain of salt that much easier. All of that said, if they’ve learned anything from the lackluster Call of Duty: Ghosts, we might actually be in for a treat.
